One of the favorite city destinations in Western Europe noted for its romantic appeal is Paris; it's location straddling the banks of the river Seine make it a beautiful city to visit. For most people visiting Paris, a short stay is often the way they first see the city; there is so much to see and do that often only the main tourist attractions can be fitted in.
It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other famous tourist attractions. Like most European cities, Paris is easy to get around; there is an excellent underground system called the Metro which runs regular trains into the city center and is very easy to understand.
The Eiffel Tower at over 300 meters tall is a magnificent steel structure; there are only a few places in the city where it isn't visible. You can be assured of an even more beautiful sight if you visit in the evening when it is illuminated; if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.
The famous Paris Avenue ‘the Champs Elysees' must also receive a visit; with shops, cafes, and restaurants littered along the wide pavements, it is a ‘must see' for every visitor. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily; most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. If you are in Paris on a short stay you must plan your time well; the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo statue just two of many appreciated works of art. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world's famous artists; chances are that you will have the opportunity to see a number of famous paintings whilst you're visiting.
The Arc de Triomphe another famous landmark was built by Napoleon in 1806; it provides visitors with a wonderful photo experience because it contains the names of every one of his generals. It also features an observatory to take in surrounding views; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.
Of course this article can only give a small sample places to visit; and whilst there are many more worthy examples, those listed here should not be missed. Unfortunately, short stays in Paris can be demanding on visitors; what you aren't able to this time will have to wait for another occasion.
