Paris is one of the premier capitals

Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world especially the romantic amongst us; also known as affectionately as the City of Lights. For most people visiting Paris, a short stay is often the way they first see the city; you can never become bored in this beautiful city.

It is known for its wonderful buildings, style, excellent food and wine; plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Visitors to Paris as well as its citizens can travel around Paris easily; there is a superb underground rail system called the Metro which is efficient and easy to understand.

It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower; it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. Illuminated at night it dominates the city's skyline; if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.

The famous Paris Avenue ‘the Champs Elysees' must also receive a visit; if you want to see famous, designer label shops and the restaurants, this is the place. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily; the average tourist may find the accommodation expensive but more modest hotels can be found away from this area.

The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; it houses over three hundred thousand exhibits but not all of them are ever on display at the same time. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; the Mona Lisa is one such world famous work of art which should not be missed. What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great capital; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.

Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; it provides visitors with a wonderful photo experience because it contains the names of every one of his generals. It also features an observatory to take in surrounding views; it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.

You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; these are however, the most popular with regular tours arranged, many of which are either free or at a subsidized cost. A short stay in Paris will definitely be a busy one even if only a few sights are visited; this article has not even discussed the topic of medieval castles and gothic churches which the city has in abundance.
