Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world

Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world especially the romantic amongst us; it is also one of the best European city destinations. Many couples decide to take short stay in Paris as it is probably the most romantic city in the world; the desire to stay longer is strong as there is so much to see and do.

Visitors flock to see its many wonderful buildings; plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Fortunately for tourists, Paris has a first rate transportation system; there is a superb underground rail system called the Metro which is efficient and easy to understand.

You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it's over three hundred meters high; there are only a few places in the city where it isn't visible. At night, it comes alive with lights that have to be seen to be believed; taking a tour at the same time will teach you much more about this remarkable structure.

On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; with shops, cafes, and restaurants littered along the wide pavements, it is a ‘must see' for every visitor. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; it holds in excess of 300,000 pieces of art, which cannot possibly be seen in a single visit. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa to view in addition to some of the finest collections of art in the world. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.

Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; engraved with the names of generals that commanded his troops, it has become a popular photo spot for tourists visiting Paris. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.

You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; although no trip would be complete without seeing these, they are probably best viewed as part of a guided tour, some of which are actually free. A short stay in Paris will definitely be a busy one even if only a few sights are visited; those attractions that cannot be seen will still be there the next time you visit.
