Beautiful Sights in Paris

Although it isn't a well publicized fact, Paris is the second largest European city; with over 30 million foreign visitors annually it is a very popular destination. Paris short stays of a few days, often over a long weekend are the normal way to see it; if you have more time, it will make for a remarkable holiday, with many great sites to see.

Visitors flock to see its many wonderful buildings; it has much to offer visitors who adore culture, even if it is only for a long weekend. Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.

It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower; it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. Illuminated in the evening, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire city; taking a tour at the same time will teach you much more about this remarkable structure.

On your Paris trip ensure you add the famous Champs Elysees to your list of places to visit; with shops, cafes, and restaurants littered along the wide pavements, it is a ‘must see' for every visitor. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

A trip to would not be complete without a visit to the Louvre museum; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. There are so many exhibits here they cannot all be viewed during a short stay in Paris; many of the world's art collections are housed here, which includes the renowned ‘Mona Lisa'. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world's famous artists; painters like Monet and Picasso spent many years here and a large number of their art works can be seen in Paris today.

Another famous Paris attraction is The Arc de Triomphe which was built within the first decade of the nineteenth century; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it stands in the place where the city's main avenues begin including the Champs Elysees.

Of course this article can only give a small sample places to visit; but these should certainly not to be missed because many offer regular guided tours, some at little or no charge at all. It is fair to say that you won't see everything on a Paris short stay of two or even three day break; what you aren't able to this time will have to wait for another occasion.
